Sports
Black lighting adds a whole new element to sports games such as soccer, volleyball, basketball and baseball. Instruct all the children to decorate white t-shirts with glow in the dark markers and wear glow necklaces, then take them outside at night. In the area where they'll be playing, be sure to have various black lights set up to provide some illumination to the game scene. Then, let them play under the black lights. Think of it as playing glow-in-the-dark sports. You can even color the game ball in specialty paint so that glows too.
Scavenger Hunts
Parents can make a black light scavenger hunt using loose leaf paper and some glow-in-the-dark paint. Simply write clues with the paint on the loose leaf paper and then hang them around the house. Divide the participants up into teams and equip them with glow sticks, so they'll be able to read the clues as they maneuver from room to room. Then, shut off the lights. The clues should be organized in a way that leads the children to some sort of prize or award. The first team to find it, wins.
Hot Potato
Hot potato is a simple game that consists of participants sitting in a circle and tossing a ball around. The rules are simple: If you drop the ball, you're out of the game. Make the game more interesting by turning off the lights, having the game participants wear white T-shirts and coloring the ball with glow-in-the-dark paint or markers. Place a few black lights around the room and then play. The use of black lights is sure to make the game more challenging and more interesting.
Other Games
One popular family game which black lights can make a whole lot more interesting is Twister, which challenges participants to touch certain parts of a large game board with their hands and feet. Design T-shirts using glow-in-the-dark paint, place black lights around the game board and then turn off the lights and let the fun begin. Black lights add a whole new element in terms of jockeying for position.
