Noah's Ark Treasure Hunt Ideas for Kids

An effective way to teach kids about significant points in religious history is through games. Whether you are looking for an educational game to play for religious school or just for a party at home, use the story about Noah's Ark to inspire you for a treasure hunt idea. A Noah's Ark treasure hunt will give kids the chance to feel what it was like to search for animal species and collect them before the great flood arrived.
  1. Hiding Stuffed Animals

    • One approach to a Noah's Ark-themed treasure hunt is to hide pairs of animals in various locations, inside and outside, so that kids can find the animals on their hunt. The pairs of animals represent the two animals of every species that Noah found and brought on board his ark. Use plastic animal toys that are small enough to fit in a basket, and give kids a basket so that once they find the animals, they can rescue them and put them in their baskets, or Arks, to carry along.

    Animal Riddles

    • Rather than using actual stuffed or plastic animals for the treasure hunt, prepare stations around the room where kids must use riddles to solve the types of animals they are picking up from that station. For instance, one station might have the riddle "I can wear multiple neck ties at once. Who am I?" The answer, a giraffe, is what kids write down on their treasure hunt maps and then move on to the next station. This is a two-dimensional -- not to mention brain teaser -- way for kids to "collect" the animals on their Noah's Ark hunt.

    Treasure Hunt and Race

    • The great floods are coming, and Noah -- or the kids -- have very little time to rescue the animals! In this rendition of the Noah's Ark treasure hunt, two or more teams of kids compete against each other to see who can complete the treasure hunt first. The team that finishes first saves the animals and goes aboard the Ark safely. The team that comes in second does not make it in time for the great flood, in imaginative play.

    Kids as Animals

    • In a Noah's Ark treasure hunt you can give some kids the task of completing the treasure hunt and other kids the task of playing the role of the animals. If five kids must go on the search, then the rest of the kids can be hiding behind furniture or in the classroom, posing as the animals. Once the kids doing the searching come up to the animal kids, the animal kids must introduce themselves as the animal, walk like the animal and make sounds that the animal makes. Another idea is to give the animal kids an animal mask to wear so they look the part.
