How to Make Sea Life Tank Games

Nearly all children love to go fishing. Anticipating the tug of the rod and spinning quickly on the reel to see what is on the hook fills children with excitement. Create an indoor fishing game that offers nearly as much fun as the actual sport of fishing. Using simple household items, put together a fishing game to delight children at home, a party or a child-care setting.

Things You'll Need

  • Wooden dowel (1-inch in diameter)
  • Yarn
  • Masking tape
  • 2 Round magnets
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions

    • 1

Tie a strand of yarn to the end of the wooden dowel. Reinforce the yarn knot with a piece of masking tape. Glue two, round magnets to the end of the yarn. Place a dab of glue with a hot glue gun between the two magnets. Set the end of the yarn into the hot glue and push the magnets together. Allow 15 minutes for the glue to cool and set.

    • 2

Draw and cut brightly colored sea creatures, such as tropical fish, octopuses and sea horses, on construction paper or tag board. Add eyes, scales and flippers to the sea creatures using markers. Punch a hole in the face of each sea creature using a hole punch. Clip a metal, round paper ring through the hole in each creature's face.

    • 3

Fill a fish aquarium tank or kiddies' wading pool with the paper sea creatures. Give the fishing pole to one game participant. Encourage the child to place the magnet of the fishing pole near the metal rings on the sea creatures. Allow each game participant to fish five creatures out of the tank.
