Mad Hatter Activities for Kids

Throw a memorable Mad Hatter party your guests will be talking about for months. Organize some entertaining activities to keep the kids involved in the party and give them a chance to earn prizes to take home as mementos. Awarding prizes like Mad Hatter-themed stickers, temporary tattoos and hats to activity winners will entice everyone to play along.
  1. Contests

    • Host a Mad Hatter hat contest to put your guests̵7; creativity and artistic skills to the test. Give the guests newspapers, silk flowers, feathers, buttons, ribbon, tape, markers, paint and glitter to use to make a Mad Hatter hat. Award prizes to the best, funniest, scariest and most realistic Mad Hatter hats. For younger children, print pictures of the Mad Hatter and have them color the pictures. Award prizes to the best ones. Alternatively, give the children an assortment of play dough to make Mad Hatter hats.

    Hunt Games

    • Print pictures of the Mad Hatter to hide all over the party area. Have everyone hunt for the pictures. The player who finds the most pictures wins the game. Draw a star on the back of two pictures and the two players who find those pictures also win a prize. Alternatively, print pictures of Dormouse to hide with the Mad Hatter pictures around the party area. Another idea is to hide one picture around the play area and the first player to find it wins a prize.

    Relay Races

    • Divide the players into two teams and have them line up at a starting line. Mark a run-to line 20 feet from the starting line. Give the first player in each team line a saucer and teacup. Place a large bucket of water at the starting line and two empty buckets at the finish line. When you say ̶0;Go,̶1; the players must fill up the cup, place it on the saucer and race to their team bucket. They must pour the water in the bucket and race back to hand off the cup to the next player in line. Each player must do the same thing. The first team to fill their bucket with water wins the race. Make this game more difficult by having the players run backward.

    Tossing Games

    • Place a large Mad Hatter hat upside down on a table. Make "teabags" using brown baby socks and dry beans. Fill the socks with the dry beans and use a rubber band to close each one. Mark a line and have guests try to toss the teabags into the hat. Another idea is to scatter several teacups on a table. Write a point value on each cup and give each guest 10 teabags to toss into the cups. The player with the most points wins the game.
