Paper Games
Make a word search, word scramble or game of bingo using words that associate with the Super Bowl. For example, use words like "football," "tailgate," "trophy," "ring," "commercials," "tailgate" and "quarterback." Give each player a word search or scramble. When you say ̶0;Go,̶1; they must complete it. The first player to complete the puzzle wins the game. For bingo, use the football-related words in the bingo squares. The first player to bingo and yell ̶0;I love the Super Bowl,̶1; wins the game. If you want to award prizes, give the game winners football-themed temporary tattoos or pencils.
Wreaths
Allow your fourth graders to create football wreaths for the classroom door. Divide the class into two groups. Assign each group with one of the teams playing in the Super Bowl. Have each team make a wreath with the team̵7;s colors. For example, for the Dallas Cowboys, the students would do silver and blue. Give the student's construction paper. Have them trace and cut out their handprints on the construction paper. They can cut a ring out of cardboard and glue the handprints to the ring. Give them glitter, rhinestones, football stickers, team logo stickers and paint pens to decorate the wreath. Hang one wreath above the other wreath on the door and write ̶0;Versus̶1; on a sheet of paper to put in the middle.
Trivia
Create a football trivia for the classroom to see how much your students know about football. Divide the students into two teams. Ask the questions like ̶0;How many quarters are in a football game?̶1; ̶0;How long is each quarter?̶1; and ̶0;What do you call the break in the middle of the game?̶1; For each correct answer, the team will earn one point. Alternatively, ask the students questions about the two teams playing in the Super Bowl, such as ̶0;Who is the quarterback for one of the teams?̶1; and ̶0;Who is the coach?̶1; The team with the most points wins the game.
Clay Crafts
Give your students play dough or clay to make football crafts. The can make footballs, field goal posts, helmets, players and uniforms. Have a contest and award prizes to the most creative, best design and funniest creations. For keepsake crafts, have student use self-hardening clay. After the clay dries overnight, they can paint the clay using acrylic paint. After the paint dries, hot glue a magnet or lapel pin to the back of each one to create a keepsake craft for the students. Have them use a paint pen to write the name of the Super Bowl teams and the year on the back of the craft.
