Tossing Activities
Have the preschoolers sit in a circle and hand one child a ball of yarn. Tell that child to hold on to one end of the yarn and toss the ball to another player. That player must grab the yarn and toss the yarn ball to another player. After everyone in the circle holds on to a piece of the yarn, it will create a large spider web in the middle of the circle. For added fun, have each child say his name before tossing the yarn ball to another player.
Paint Activities
Cut several round pieces of paper to fit into a round cake pan. Give each preschooler a sheet of paper. One at a time, have the preschoolers place their sheet of paper in the cake pan. Tell her to dip a marble into black paint and drop it in the pan. Have her move the pan around making the marble roll all over the paper creating a spider web. Do this activity as a class by using a large plastic swimming pool and a tennis ball instead of a marble. Place a large sheet of paper in the bottom of the pool and dip a tennis ball in black paint. Have all the preschoolers stand around the edge of the pool. Tell them to tilt the pool back and forth so the ball creates a spider web on the paper.
Cardboard Activities
Help your preschoolers cut several circles about 6-inches in diameter out of cardboard. Cut 1-inch slits every 2 inches around the outside of the cardboard circle. Give each preschooler a cardboard circle and a ball of black or white yarn. Have the preschoolers slide the yarn in the slits and wrap it around the cardboard to make a spider web. Alternatively, use a large piece of cardboard and have the preschooler do this activity as a class creating one giant spider web.
Glue Activities
Give each preschooler a sheet of black construction paper and a bottle of glue. Have her use the glue to draw a spider web on the paper. After she draws the web, have her sprinkle glitter all over the glue. Shake off any excess glitter and allow the spider web drawing to dry overnight. Another idea is to allow the preschooler to draw a spider web on wax paper. Allow the glue to dry overnight. The next day, the children can peel the glue spider webs off the wax paper.
