How to Make a Sofa Fort

Building a sofa fort to play in on a rainy day is one of a child's simplest pleasures. Although your little architects will need to take over the living room for this project, they will most likely seek little else from you once the fort has been constructed. Help your kids move the sofas, and let them do the rest. Creating a structure of their very own will give them a sense of satisfaction and a cozy place to spend the day.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 sofas
  • Large sheet or blanket
  • Clothespins
  • Sofa cushions
  • Pillows
  • Blankets

Instructions

    • 1

Position two sofas back-to-back with a 5-10 foot gap in between them.

    • 2

Drape a large blanket or sheet over the top of the gap. Use clothespins to secure each side of the blanket to the back of each couch.

    • 3

Take the cushions off of the couches. Stand the cushions on their sides and use them to block the openings on either side of the fort.

    • 4

Lay blankets and pillows on the floor of the fort to make it comfortable and cozy.

    • 5

Bring card games or snacks into the fort and settle in.
