Painting Activities
Give each preschooler a sheet of white construction paper. Have the children dip their thumbs into black finger paint and press it onto the paper. After they wash their hands, have the children use yellow paint to draw lines on the black fingerprint to resemble a bumblebee. The children can use a black marker to draw antennas and stingers on the bees. For an easy painting activity, give the children a bumblebee-coloring page and have them paint it. Make the bee sparkle by adding glitter to the bee while the paint is wet.
Outdoor Games
Take your preschoolers outside for some bumblebee games. Select one child to be the king or queen bee in a game of bumblebee tag. The king or queen must place one hand in the air like a stinger so everyone knows he is ̶0;it.̶1; Once he tags another player, that player becomes a bumblebee and must put his arm up too, while trying to tag other players. The last player tagged by the bumblebees is the winner. Alternatively, have each player tagged sit out instead of becoming a bumblebee. Allow each child a chance to be the king or queen bee.
Pompom Activities
Use black and yellow craft pompoms to make bumblebee crafts. Preschoolers can use markers to color an empty toilet paper roll with black and yellow stripes. Glue a large black pompom to the top of the roll for the bee̵7;s head. Add googly eyes and chenille stems for the antennas. Another idea is to have the preschoolers draw yellow and black strips on a small clay pot. Turn the pot upside down and glue a large yellow or black pompom to the top for the head. Decorate with chenille stems and googly eyes.
Indoor Games
Make a tossing game by drawing a flower on a large poster board and taping it to the bottom of a cardboard box. Cut the middle of the flower out. Decorate beanbags to resemble bumblebees and have the children try to toss the bees into the flowers. Award a prize to each preschooler who makes a beanbag in the flower. Make a guessing game by filling a clear jar with plastic bumblebees. Have each preschooler guess how many bees are in the jar. The child who guesses closest to the correct number wins the game.
