Dinosaur Games for Pre-K

Educators can prepare a variety of games about dinosaurs to teach pre-kindergarten classes about the giant reptiles. Engaging children in games about dinosaurs allows them to have fun while learning. Awarding small prizes like dinosaur-themed stickers and temporary tattoos to game winners can entice young children to try their best.
  1. Paper Games

    • A variety of dinosaur-themed paper games, such as dot-to-dot puzzles, word searches and mazes, are available online to print for children's activities. Have a coloring contest by printing dinosaur coloring pages for the pre-K students to color. Award prizes to the best, most creative and most colorful dinosaur coloring pages. Make dinosaur bingo by printing cards with pictures of different dinosaurs in each square. Print the same dinosaur pictures and place them in a bowl. Draw the pictures one at a time and have the children mark their cards. The first player to bingo and yell, ̶0;I love dinosaurs,̶1; wins the game.

    Memory Games

    • Print pictures of six or seven types of dinosaurs and hang them on the wall. Have the children look at all the pictures. Tell them to lay their heads on their desks and close their eyes. Remove one picture and have them look again at the pictures. The first child to tell you which dinosaur picture is missing wins a small prize. Another idea is to print pairs of dinosaur pictures on small slips of paper. Place the pictures face down and allow the children to play a game of memory match. The child with the most pairs at the end of the game wins.

    Hunt Games

    • Create an easy dinosaur hunt by hiding plastic dinosaurs for the children to hunt. For added fun, draw green or brown dots on white plastic Easter eggs. Hide the ̶0;dinosaur eggs̶1; for the children to hunt, too. The child finding the most dinosaurs and eggs wins the game. Make a dinosaur puzzle hunt by cutting up a large picture of a dinosaur into several puzzle pieces. Hide the pieces around the classroom and have the children find the pieces and work together to put them together.

    Tossing Games

    • Scatter plastic buckets on the ground and have the children try to toss plastic dinosaurs into them. The child getting the highest number of dinosaurs into the buckets wins the game. Tape a picture of a dinosaur head on the bottom of a cardboard box and cut out the mouth. Lean the box against a wall and have the children try to toss beanbags into the opening. The child getting the most beanbags into the dinosaur̵7;s mouth wins the game.
