How to Make a Bingo Children's Game

Bingo is a classic game of call and response, where both kids and adults brim with the anticipation of shouting, "Bingo!" For kids, the game provides practice at a number of skills including number, letter and object recognition, math operations and listening. Make customized bingo games for kids with a few supplies. Children can even participate by filling in their own grids with letters or numbers or by coloring and decorating individual game cards.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare a 5-inch by 5-inch grid with "BINGO" written across the top, one letter above each column. Preschoolers who have never played bingo before can play on a 3-inch by 3-inch grid with enlarged squares. Use card stock so the game can be reused.

    • 2

Create a "Free" space in the center square by coloring it, marking it with a star or writing "FREE."

    • 3

Fill each square with a random number. Customize it to suit a particular age, skill level or subject. For young children, use numbers 1 to 10, letters, shapes or animals. Customize games for older kids with addition or subtraction problems, vocabulary or spelling words.

    • 4

Cut out circles from poster board, heavy card stock or cardboard to use as bingo markers. Sturdier options include using coins, beads, small blocks or foam pieces.
