Games With Tractors for Children

When teaching children about farm life and tractors, prepare a variety of tractor-themed games for them to play. These activities will keep the children interested in learning in a fun way. Award prizes, such as small tractor toys and coloring books, to game winners to entice them to play along and try their best. Use your creative imagination and a few supplies to get started.
  1. Paper Games

    • Fill bingo cards with pictures of different colors and kinds of tractors. Give each child a card and candy to use as markers. Hold up a picture of a tractor and have the children mark their cards. The first player to bingo and yell "I love tractors," wins the game. Another option is to print several pictures of tractors on small slips of paper, two of each. Place the pictures face down and have the children play a game of memory. If a child finds a matching pair, he can keep the pair and go again. If the pictures do not match, the turn moves to the next player. The player with the most matching pairs wins the game.

    Contests

    • Have a tractor coloring and drawing contest. Give each child a tractor coloring page and crayons. Award a small prize to the best, most creative and prettiest coloring pages. Another idea is to give the children pictures of tractors to use as a guide. Have the children freehand a tractor on construction paper. Award prizes to the best drawings. To have the children get active, mark a starting line and give one child a toy tractor. He must give the tractor one push from the starting line. Allow each child to push the tractor and the child who pushes it the farthest from the line wins the game.

    Hunt Games

    • Hide several small toy tractors in a sandbox. Blindfold a child and give him one minute to dig in the sand to try to find a tractor. If he finds a tractor, he can keep it. Alternatively, hide toy tractors all over the play area and have children hunt for them. The children who find tractors can keep them. For an educational game, hide different color tractors around the party area. Call out a color and the child who finds that color tractor first wins a small prize.

    Races

    • Make an obstacle course using cones and have the children race through the obstacle course pushing tractors. Alternatively, rent or borrow petal tractors. Mark a starting line and finish line 25 feet apart, then have the children ride on them through the course. Create a tractor pull by placing weights in the back of the tractors. See who can pull the most weight and who can pull it the farthest.
