The Easiest Way to Make a Game Spinner

Children's games. such as Twister and Candy Land often include a spinner to randomly select one of several options during the player's turn. Unfortunately, these spinners are easily lost or damaged when a favorite game is played repeatedly. You can make a replacement spinner from materials that you probably have in your home.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a circle on the cardstock that is about 6 inches in diameter with your compass and pencil.

    • 2

      Cut out the circle.

    • 3

Divide the circle into wedge-shaped sections for each option on the spinner. If you need eight sections, draw a line down the center of the circle and another horizontally across the center. Then divide each of these quarters in half again. Use the dot from your compass point as the center of the circle.

    • 4

Draw, write or use stickers to designate each section of the spinner. For simpler games, use different colors on each spinner section. For more complex games, you may want to write the directions instead.

    • 5

Draw and cut out an arrow shape on your left over cardstock. Make the arrow about 2.5 inches long and cut it into a point at one end.

    • 6

Punch a single hole in the center of your spinner and in the non-pointed end of your arrow.

    • 7

Attach the arrow to the board with a brad or paper fastener and adjust it so that the arrow spins smoothly.
