How to Play Airplane With Children

Playing airplane is a fun and easy game that allows children and adults to use their imagination. One of the ways to play the game is to take turns making paper airplanes and competing to see whose will fly the farthest. Making a basic plane is simple, and those who are more experienced can challenge themselves to make more complicated models.

1 piece of 8-by-11-inch paper

Instructions

  Use colored paper to make the airplane more colorful.
  
  Place a sheet of paper flat on the table. Fold the piece of paper in half vertically, pulling the left side of the paper over to meet the right side. Press the paper down to form a crease. Open the sheet of paper.

  Lay the paper flat so that the crease is vertical. Pull each of the two top corners down at an angle toward the center crease, forming a triangle. Press the corners down flat to form a solid crease, making sure each edge of the triangle is even with the center, vertical crease.

  Pull the left side of the paper over at an angle toward the center crease to form another triangle. Repeat the steps with the right side of the paper, creating a point that will be the tip of the airplane.

  Turn the folded airplane over so that the bottom side is facing upward. Pull the two sides together, folding the plane along the previously created crease.

  Turn the plane so that it is lying on one side. Pull the edge down toward the center crease to form the wing. Stop about 1 inch from the bottom, pressing the paper down firmly to form the wing's crease. Turn the airplane over to the other side, repeating the steps to form the second wing.

  Fold several airplanes so that everyone in the family has one. Take turns flying the planes to see which goes farther.

  Newspapers can also be used to make a paper airplane.
  
  Experiment with different types of planes to see which fly better or go faster. Record the results to keep for later games.
