Things You'll Need
Instructions
Cut away the broom strings that hold the bristles in place with scissors. Cutting in the middle of the stitch allows you to pull the string out cleanly. You can also cut one time and unravel the string from the broom.
Hold the broom firmly against a steady surface and pry the metal ring toward the bottom of the bristles. You may need to pull it using the claw end of the hammer or pound the ring in a downward motion.
Gather the bristles in 3/4-inch bundles and duct tape the bundle at the top, middle and bottom until most of the bristles are bundled. Cut away any stray bristles that are left over at the root.
Duct tape two bundles together tightly. Tape an adjacent bundle to the first bundle and repeat, continuing until complete. Weaving the tape through the bundles is an easy way to accomplish this; keep the tape taut. Wrap the entire bundle with duct tape to the desired strength.
Cut the broom to its final length. Place the broom on the edge of a sturdy table and saw to the appropriate shape. The defensive stick is wide and flat. The offensive bat is small and straight, while the offensive spoon is medium-width with a small indentation (but it must not allow ball cradling).
