Memory Games
Make an educational frog memory game by printing pictures of different types of frogs (two of each) on small slips of paper. Laminate the frog cards to make them last longer and more durable. Place the cards face down on a table and allow the children to play a game of frog memory. The child who finds the most pairs wins the game. For another game, tape a couple of the frog pictures to a board and have the children look at each picture. Ask the children to close their eyes and remove one picture. Tell them to open their eyes and the first child to tell you which frog picture is missing, wins a small prize.
Tossing Games
Cut lily pads out of green construction paper and place them on the ground. Give the children frog beanbags or plastic frog toys to try to toss on the lily pad. Each child who lands a frog on a lily pad wins a small prize. Another idea is to attach a piece of green poster board to the bottom of a cardboard box. Cut lily pad shape holes in the box and have the children try to toss the frogs into the lily pad-shaped holes for a prize.
Relay Races
Have the children line up at a starting line and get into a frog position (on all fours, squatted down). The children must race to a finish line and back to the starting line hopping like a frog. The first player back to the starting line wins the race. Alternatively, you can turn this race into a relay race of teams. Divide the children into teams. The first team to have all their players race one at a time to the finish line and back wins the game. To make the game more difficult, scatter construction-paper lily pads all over the ground. The children must hop on the lily pads when racing.
Other Games
Host a frog-croaking contest for the children. Show the children how to croak like a frog and give them five minutes to practice. After five minutes, the children must give their best frog croak impressions. Award prizes to the loudest, funniest, best and scariest croaks. For another game, hide small toy frogs all over the play area. Give each child a bag and have him hunt for the frogs. The child who finds the most frogs wins a prize.
