How to Play Frog in the Middle

If you have a group of younger children, and you are looking for a simple, entertaining game to play with them, try "Frog in the Middle." In order to play this game, you will need a group of between five and 30 kids. You don't need any supplies at all in order to play this game, which makes it a creative way to have fun without spending money. You can even use the game "Frog in the Middle" as a supplemental activity if you are teaching about frogs.

Instructions

    • 1

Arrange the group of children in a circle with everyone facing the inside of the circle.

    • 2

Choose a person to be the "frog" and have that child sit cross-legged in the middle of the circle.

    • 3

Instruct the children to walk in a circle around the frog. They can tease the frog and try to tap him or touch him when he's not looking; remind the children not to hit too hard or hurt the "frog" in any way.

    • 4

Instruct the child who is the frog to try and tag someone with both hands as the children walk around the circle. The frog must stay seated as she attempts to tag someone. Whoever gets tagged must then go to the center and become the frog for the next round of the game, and the previous "frog" takes her place in the circle.
