Coloring Activities
Most preschoolers love to color, so you can print Clifford coloring pages from online sources or purchase Clifford coloring books. Children can use crayons, markers or paint when coloring the pictures. Have preschoolers use child-safe scissors to cut out their pictures and glue the pictures to card stock. Laminate each picture or apply contact paper to make the pictures last longer. Once laminated, preschoolers can use the pictures as placemats. Alternatively, the children can complete dot-to-dot Clifford-themed puzzles.
Games
Put a twist on classic party games by incorporating Clifford into the games. Instead of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey," preschoolers can play a game of "Pin Clifford in the Doghouse." Play a game of "Pass Clifford," instead of "Hot Potato." Use a plush Clifford toy to play this game and award the plush Clifford to the child who wins the game. You can also use dog bones to create a variety of tossing games like "Toss the bone in the dog bowl" or "Toss the dog bone in the dog's mouth."
Food Activities
For a food activity, make dog-shaped sugar cookies using a cookie cutter and give one to each child. The children can use red frosting, sprinkles and icing pens to decorate their own Clifford sugar cookie. Find doghouse-shaped cookie cutters and allow them to make Clifford's doghouse as well. Of course, dog bone-shaped cookie cutters are perfect for this activity, too.
Clay Activities
Preschoolers enjoy playing with clay and it helps them build fine motor skills. They can use red clay to make their own Clifford the Big Red Dog. Print pictures of Clifford to place on the tables for the children to look at while sculpting the dog. For added decoration, allow them to use black and white clay to make the eyes, nose and mouth. For a longer-lasting dog, the children can use red self-hardening clay. After they make their dogs, allow their creations to harden overnight and the children can keep their sculptures for months to come.
