How to Make Your Own Health Trivia Game for Kids

Health trivia games test a child's knowledge about her body. Whether your kid is planning a party, family fun night or at home sick, trivia games are a great way to enjoy some time together with family and friends. Using facts about colds and flu or the number of taste buds under your tongue, you can create fun and interesting questions to help your kid increase her knowledge and have a great time learning about health.

Instructions

  1. Make the Board

    • 1

Search the Internet for a template on a human body. Alternately, draw a large outline of a body. Avoid drawing details.

    • 2

Transfer the template onto large tagboard. Make the body shape as large as possible, but leave a three inch border on each side.

    • 3

Draw tracks for pawns by drawing small rectangles around the body shape. The size of the rectangles has to be adjusted at some places such as the head and arms.

    • 4

Color in the rectangles using different light colored markers. Add numbers by using a black marker and start the numbering on the top of the body shape's head.

    • 5

Draw a rectangle in the middle of the body shape, approximately 3 by 2.5 inches. Decorate the rectangle and write the words "Trivia Questions" using black markers.

    • 6

Decorate the inside of the body using pencils and markers. Draw a big red heart shape around the rectangle with the trivia questions.

    Make the Cards

    • 7

Make trivia cards using tagboard. Draw rectangles, approximately 3 by 2.5 inches, and cut out the cards. Make enough cards so that the maximum number of players could play the game at least ten times without having to answer the same question.

    • 8

Decorate one side of the card. Use a simple symbol or print out a suitable design and glue it onto all the cards.

    • 9

Search the Internet and library for interesting anatomy facts and medical anecdotes. There are various subjects such as nutrition, diseases and various aspects of leading a healthy life that can be used to make a trivia game. You can search for information about different parts of the body, such as, trivia regarding the brain, skeleton or the hair. World records are exciting and abbreviations such as WHO, which can stand for World Health Organization or Wrist Hand Orthosis are useful for trivia games.

    • 10

Write trivia questions. You can make a health trivia game by only using facts that are funny about the body or you can mix weird facts with interesting trivia. Facts like "Your fingernails grow four times faster than your toenails," makes a fun trivia question. Multiple-choice questions become more difficult the more choices you provide. Yet, you need to tailor the length of your questions and answers to the space available on the cards. Questions such as "The average eyelash lasts for?" can have choices, such as, 150 days, 10 years, 150 years and 1 day. Write fill-in-the-blank questions, such as, "Every __ you grow a brand new outer layer of skin, a new you." Mix with some questions that require an exact answer, for example, "How many calories do you burn when you lick a stamp?"

    • 11

Type and print out the questions and glue them onto the cards. Give each card a number and write down an answer sheet. Alternatively, use small print and glue the answers underneath the questions. Glue the answers upside down so that you cannot read the question and the answer at the same time.
