Tinkerbell and Christmas
Tinkerbell is a fairy made famous in the J.M. Barrie story of Peter Pan and rocketed to super stardom in the Disney version of the tale. Tink uses fairy dust to allow others to fly and can only exist as long as children believe in her. Similarly, another famous character who comes at Christmas needs magic to fly and the belief of little children: Santa Claus. He is also surrounded by small mythical figures just like fairies, his elves. These parallels make it easy to incorporate everyone's favorite fairy into Christmas fun.
Santa's Fairy Helpers
Fairies and elves are not really that different, so why not let your little Tinkerbell take over some of the elves' Christmas duties? Dress up as fairy-elves with Tinkerbell green and some red accents like a Santa cap. Add wings and you are ready to help Santa deliver Christmas fun. Set up a workshop where your little fairies can make simple gifts for others. Craft supplies like construction paper, Popsicle sticks, glitter and ribbon provide endless possibilities. Your fairies can then deliver their special packages to friends and family for the holidays.
Holiday Fairy Dust
Fairies love to sprinkle their fairy dust around, and Christmas is a great time for glittery decorations. Holiday tinsel makes a great option for fairy dust, and your little Tinkerbell can have a blast decorating the tree and other parts of your home with this special holiday fairy dust. You can also sprinkle crafting glitter, but use caution as it can be hard to clean up!
Make a Holiday Wand
A magic wand is the perfect accessory for any fairy, and at Christmas time your Tinkerbell needs a special wand to wave some holiday magic around. Create a fairy wand for Christmas with your child, using a long wooden dowel, holiday tinsel, garland and cardboard. Cut out a cardboard star and glue it to one end of the dowel. When it's dry, your child can decorate it holiday style and make it a special part of her Christmas dress-up fun.
