Guessing
Create a guessing game with children using cookie dough by rolling it flat and cutting out different shapes or figures using a butter knife. Everyone involved takes turns showing off their cutout shape. The person to guess the shape first wins the game. Keep a tally of who guessed the answer first for each round and at the end the person with the most wins is the official winner of the game.
Memory
Flatten cookie dough and cut out 10 rectangular shapes the size of a deck of cards. Add designs to the rectangular slab with chocolate chips, making five matching pairs. Avoid pushing the chocolate chip pieces down so hard that it emerges out of the back of the slab. Turn the slabs over to show the plain side up and randomly place them in a line. Take turns with your child to see who can find the most matching pairs. Add more slabs to the game for a larger group of children or to make the game more competitive.
Longest Strip
Hand each child a ball of cookie dough to see who can roll out a strip that is the longest and strongest in a set amount of time. Time the game so that everyone has one minute to roll the dough into a strip. After one minute, everyone holds out their strip of dough to measure for the longest one and it has to be strong enough that it does not tear while holding it up. The person with the longest strip that doesn't tear apart wins the game.
Pretend
Create figures using cookie dough for a game of pretend. Children can make figures of family members, animals or their favorite cartoon characters. Use chocolate chips, raisins, M&M's or colored sugar to help color the figures. You can also elaborate on the game of pretend by creating a scene with cookie dough. Add a cookie dough house, tree, chair or any other object to help complete the game of pretend.
