Circle Games
Ask the players to sit in a circle, and hand one player a sock monkey. Play music and tell the children to pass the sock monkey around the circle. When the music stops, the child holding the sock monkey is out of the game. Keep playing, eliminating one player each round. The last player in the game wins the sock monkey. For another circle game, print pictures of sock monkeys and write a number on each picture. Write the same numbers on slips of paper and place the numbers in a bowl. Put the sock monkey pictures on the ground and have the players walk around the pictures. When you say "now," everyone must stand on a picture. Draw a number from the bowl, and the player standing on that picture wins a sock monkey-themed prize.
Hunt Games
For an easy hunt game, print pictures of sock monkeys from online and cut each monkey out. Hide the sock monkey pictures around the play area. The player who finds the most sock monkeys wins the game. For a different sock monkey hunt game, hide a sock monkey and have the children try to find it. The player who finds the sock monkey gets to keep it as a prize.
Tossing Games
Place several beach pails on the ground and write a point value on each pail. Mark a standing line 10 ft. from the buckets. Players must stand at the line and try to toss sock monkeys into the pails. The child who earns the most points out of five tosses wins the game. Try another tossing game by having each player select a partner. Give each pair a sock monkey and have them stand 5 ft. apart. When you say "toss," the players must toss the sock monkey to their partners. If they catch it, they are still in the game and must take a giant step backward. If they drop the sock monkey or do not catch it, they are out of the game. The team that can toss the sock monkey the farthest distance and catch it wins the game.
Relay Race
Create a basic relay race by dividing the children into two teams. Have each team line up at a starting line, and give the first player in each team line a sock monkey. Mark a run-to line 20 ft. from the starting line. When you say "race," the first player in each line must race to the run-to line carrying the sock monkey and back to the starting line. He must hand it off to the next player in line, who must do the same thing. The first team to finish the race wins the game. For variations, have the children hop, skip or run backward instead of running.
