The Sony PSP, which stands for "PlayStation Portable," was available on the market in 2005. The PSP not only plays games, but also plays movies. The PSP has built-in Wi-Fi that can be used with Skype for Internet calls, which transform this handheld game system into a communication system as well. Spouses can both connect to an Internet browser, but parents can set the controls for this service so children won't visit any unauthorized sites.

The VTech MobiGo is an educational handheld electronic device that caters to children age 2 to 8. The games available include recognizable animated characters and learning games to help aid in development. Some of the educational benefits include introducing children to colors, letters and words, numbers and math activities, and reading. VTech makes the educational games fun and entertaining to keep the kids happy and wanting to play more.

There are portable electronic games for kids that are just one specific game. There are many varieties of these games ranging from car racing games to sports games. The graphics on these type of pocket games are usually not in color or as complex as other pocket games. These games are priced cheaper, which may mean children can have a wide variety of games to play.
