How Do I Connect Two Rubber Bands?

If you need to connect two rubber bands together, you can do so even if the rubber bands are not the same length or thickness. The method for hooking two rubber bands together can also be used to connect non-stretchy loops of fabric or string, in addition to looping together stretchy bracelets made out of silicone or rubber. Additionally, a chain of rubber bands can be created by connecting multiple rubber bands to each other in the same way you would link two together.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay two rubber bands on the table in front of you, side by side, with their sides overlapping, creating a "figure eight."

    • 2

Pick up the right side of the bottom rubber band with your left hand, which is the portion of the bottom rubber band that is inside the rubber band on top.

    • 3

Hold the bottom rubber band portion in your left hand and fold the rubber band to the left. Pick up the right side of the bottom rubber band while folding the left side to the right.

    • 4

Push the rubber band portion in your left hand through the other half of the bottom rubber band.

    • 5

Grab the piece of rubber band being pushed through with your right hand and pull it through to create a knot that will bind the two bands together. Pull the opposite ends of each rubber band tightly to complete the project.
