Building Fun
Have all the preschoolers sit around a table or on the floor for some free play. Pour out several LEGO blocks on the table or floor. Tell the children to use their imagination to build anything they can think of. Give the children ideas like build an apple using all red blocks or build a pattern with the blocks by alternating colors. For another building game, ask the preschoolers to get into teams of two or three. Tell them to work together to build one large structure.
Guessing Games
Fill a clear jar with LEGO blocks and be sure to count each one. Ask each child to guess how many blocks are in the jar. The child who guesses closest to the correct number wins the jar of LEGO blocks. For another guessing game, build a tall tower with LEGO blocks and count how many blocks are in the tower. Ask the children to guess how many blocks are in the tower. The child who guesses closest to the correct number wins the LEGO tower.
LEGO Relays
Mark a starting line and a run-to line 15 feet apart. Divide the preschoolers into two teams and instruct each team to line up at the starting line. Give the first player in each team line a LEGO race car. When you say "Go," the first two players in line must push the race car on the ground to the run-to line and back to the next player in line. Each player must do the same thing. The first team to finish the relay race wins the game. For another relay race, give the first player in each team line a spoon. Place two LEGO blocks on each player's spoon. The players must race to the run-to line and back carrying the blocks on the spoon. The first team to finish the race wins the game.
Scavenger Hunts
Hide several LEGO blocks all over the play area and give each preschooler a small plastic bag. When you say "Find those LEGO blocks," the children must try to find as many blocks as they can and place them in their bags. The child who finds the most blocks wins the game. For another hunt, divide the preschoolers into teams of two or three. Hide 20 blocks for each team, making sure each team has their own color blocks. For example, hide 20 red blocks for team one, 20 blue blocks for team two and 20 yellow blocks for team three. When you say "Hunt," each team must work together to find their 20 LEGO blocks. The first team to find all 20 blocks wins the game.
