Guessing Games
Hang mistletoe with berries from the ceiling. Have each child stand under the mistletoe and guess how many berries are on it. After everyone guesses, take the mistletoe down and count the berries. The child who guesses closest to the correct number wins a prize. For another idea, fill a clear jar with red and green candies or miniature presents. Have the kids guess how many are in the jar. The player with the closest guess wins a prize or the jar of candy.
Candy Cane Games
Create a game of candy cane horseshoes for the kids to play by taping a wooden dowel or stick to a piece of cardboard. Mark a line 10 feet from the dowel or stick and have all the kids line up. Give each kid a candy cane and have him write his name down the side. The kids must try to toss the candy cane as close as they can to the wooden dowel. Award prizes to the four kids who land their candy cane closest to the dowel. Award an extra prize to any kid who rings the pole with the candy cane loop. For another game, divide the children into two teams and give each player a candy cane. Give the first player in each team line another candy cane. The players must use only their candy canes to transfer their team candy cane down the line. The first team to get its team candy cane all the way down the line wins the game.
Christmas Balloon Games
Use yarn to tie a red or green balloon to each child's ankle. When you say "Go," all players must try to pop other players' balloon by stomping on them. The last player with a balloon wins the game. For a variation, divide the kids into two teams. Tie red balloons on the ankles of one team and green balloons on the ankles of the other team. The kids must work together to get all the opponent's team balloons popped first.
Ornament Games
Divide the kids into two teams and have each team stand in a straight line. Give the first player in each team line a plastic round ornament (standard size). When you say "Race," the first player in line has to pick up the ornament between their neck and chin. The kids pass the ornament down the line using their neck and chin. The first team to get the ornament all the way down their team line wins the game.
