Things You'll Need
Instructions
New in Town
Tell the 10 year olds that you're a newcomer to your town. Ask each child to give you very specific instructions to help you find basic landmarks such as the post office, the school, the grocery store, a cafe and the library.
Wait for each 10 year old to give you directions that are as specific as possible. Allow them to draw a map.
Give each 10 year old one point for accurate and precise directions. The child with the most points wins.
Around the World
Attach pictures or postcards of famous landmarks from around the world onto trees with tape. Divide 10 year olds up into several teams.
Give each team a pen and pad of paper. Instruct the teams to walk around the forest or park, and, when they see a postcard of a monument, to write down the city and country where the monument is located.
Check answers with all the teams, rewarding each correct answer with one point. The team with the most points wins.
