Dora's Scavenger Hunt
Hide small plastic Dora toys and favors all over the play area -- the host's home or yard. Give each child a purple paper sack, which are available at most craft stores. For added decoration, draw a pair of eyes and a mouth on the sack to resemble "Dora's Backpack." When you say "Start hunting," the children must run around the play area collecting as many Dora items as they can and place them in their bags. The child who finds the most items wins a prize. Another variation is to mark a star on a couple of the hidden items and the players who find these win extra prizes, too. All players can keep the Dora prizes and favors they find as participation prizes.
Swiper No Swiping
Since Swiper the Fox likes to swipe things from Dora and her friends, tell the children they must find Swiper before he has the chance to swipe anything. Print a picture of Swiper or use a plush Swiper toy. Hide Swiper around the play area and have the children hunt for him. The player who finds Swiper wins a prize. For a variation, hide several plastic Swiper toys and have all the children hunt for as many Swiper toys as they can.
Dora Backpack Prizes
Draw several purple Dora backpacks on sheets of construction paper (enough for each player). Write a number on each backpack and scatter them on the floor. Write the same numbers on small slips of paper and place them in a bowl. Play the "Dora the Explorer" theme song and tell the children to dance around the backpacks. When the music stops, each player must stand on a backpack. Draw a number from the bowl and the player standing on that number wins a prize.
Dora Relay Race
Use two Dora costumes for a relay race. Each costume should have at least a Dora wig and a purple backpack. Mark a starting line and run-to line 15 feet apart. Divide the children into two teams and have them line up at the starting line. Give the first player in each team line a Dora wig and backpack. When you say "Race," the first player in each team line must put on the wig and backpack. She must race to the run-to line and back. She will hand the wig and backpack to the next player in her team line, who will do the same thing. The first team to finish the Dora relay race wins the game.
