Corn Starch Glue
Make a mixture for children that involves corn starch and water. This project can become really messy so it's best to lay down newspaper prior to mixing. Pour a box of corn starch into a large bowl and add a small amount of water, mixing it together until it becomes hardened. The hardness will occur when you pick it up and squeeze it, however, when you open your hand and expose it to the air, it will fall apart like goo.
Flubber
Flubber is a mixture that can be stretched, bounced, tied and shaped into various shapes. Flubber takes the shape of anything it's stored in such as a plastic bag or container. Flubber is made by mixing together one and a half cups of warm water with two cups of glue in a bowl. Add five drops of food coloring to achieve desired color. In another bowl, mix together four tbsp. Borax with one and a third cups of warm water. Pour the glue mixture into the Borax mixture carefully and watch the flubber form on its own.
Edible Slime
Create a slime mixture for children that can be played with and is edible. Pour a 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk into a saucepan and cook over low heat. Add one tbsp. of cornstarch ad stir the mixture constantly while it heats over low heat until it thickens. When thickness is achieved, add 10 to 15 drops of food coloring to the mixture and mix well. Allow the slime to cool completely before giving it to children to play with.
Gak Slime
This type of slime is appropriate for older children, as it's not easy to remove from carpet or clothing. To make the gak slime, you would mix equal parts white (non-washable) glue and liquid laundry starch in a bowl until it's combined and runny. Food color can be added to the slime for color. The slime can be colored on with markers, painted and cut with scissors. This mixture will be extremely sticky which may attract dust and fuzz and should be disposed of if it gets dirty.
