Easy Recreation Games

Whether planned or not, if you have kids, at some point you will end up with a house full of kids. To combat the loud craziness, it is a good idea to have some outside recreational games in mind that will get them busy when they come to you complaining of boredom.
  1. Tag

    • Tag is one of the easiest recreation games that kids can play outside. There are no additional props needed to play, which means a game can break out at any time. Basic tag is a game where one person is "it" and everyone else tries to stay away. The game stops when the "it" person tags someone, which results in that person being it and the game starting over. Many variations of the game exist to make it more interesting. Freeze tag is where the "it" person touches a player and he must stay frozen until another team mate unfreezes him. The game ends when all players are frozen. Another variation is flashlight tag, in which you tag by shining a light on players during the dark.

    Hunts

    • Scavenger hunts or treasure hunts don't require much in the way of supplies and can pass a lot of time as the kids go in search of all kinds of objects. Lists for scavenger hunts can range from toys or nature items or yard and house items. For treasure hunts create simple clues and riddles that you know the kids can figure out given enough time.

    Kick Ball

    • Kick ball is a fun recreation game that has stood the test of time. With rules similar to baseball, all you need are bases and a ball to start a game. Bases don't have to be as perfect as they would be in an official baseball game. Kids come up with all kinds of things to use, from trees or shrubs to pieces of cardboard or outside toys. The only thing that really needs to be accurate is the rubber inflatable ball used as the kick ball. The ball is pitched underhand and rolled on the ground to the player at home plate, who then kicks it. Bases are run just like in baseball.

    People to People

    • The People to People game is hilarious fun with no actual winner. One person is the caller and announces body parts. The pairs of team mates have to put the parts together with each other as best they can. For example if the caller says elbow to knee, the pairs have to connect one of each of their elbows to the other person's knee. The combinations can become quite funny.
