Bee Games for Children

Children may find bees intriguing after learning about them in school, daycare or during a nature outing. Support a child's interest in insects by including bees in a child's birthday activities or past time games. There are different types of games, such as video games, board games and party games, that children can play alone or with friends and family. You may have to purchase certain bee games in stores or on the Internet, while other games you can create with craft materials in your home.
  1. Board Games

    • If children are interested in board games, they may want to play Pressman's "Spelling Bee Bingo," which is a game for ages four and up. To win, a player must cover his bingo board in chips the fastest and then buzz like a bee. Another game for children is International Playthings' "Honey Bee Tree." The object of this game is for children to pull leaves out of a honey bee tree without waking the sleeping bees, or toy plastic bees, within.

    Video and Computer Games

    • Activision's "Bee Movie Game" is a video game based on the Dreamworks animation film "Bee Movie." The game is available for PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. The game includes driving and flying games along with multiplayer mini games. "Bee Garden: The Lost Queen" is a PC computer game that you can purchase and download on the GameHouse website (gamehouse.com). In the game, players must guide bees to flowers, fight off pests and search for the queen bee.

    Party Games

    • Organize a bee-themed party for your child's birthday. Set up empty clay flower pots in a row. Fill each pot with pieces of wrapped candies. Purchase a bag of cotton balls and and color them yellow with a marker or paint them yellow. When dry, glue two googly eyes on each cotton ball and draw two black stripes on each bee. Children can try tossing the bee cotton balls into the flower pots to win a piece of candy inside. Another idea is to have children stand in a circle and pass a bee stuffed animal, or an object that represents a bee, around the circle to music. When you stop the music, whichever child is holding the bee is out.

    Online Games

    • Look on the Internet for interactive children's games. On the Animal Games Online website (animalgamesonline.com), children can use the computer mouse to navigate a bee through a maze to get to its honey. On the Play Kids Games website (playkidsgames.com), kids must help a bee take flowers back to a beehive. The flowers each have an alphabet letter on them and children must help the bee pick up the flowers in alphabetical order.
