Online Activities and Printable Sheets
Print Bible game and activity sheets for children from the Internet. For example, the DLTK's Bible Activities website (dltk-bible.com) has game sheets you can print and have children complete with a pen or pencil. There are different games to choose from including mazes, word searches and Bingo game sheets. On the website "A Kid's Heart" (akidsheart.com), you can find Bible games and printable activities for kids. There are Bible-themed jigsaw puzzles for young children in preschool or kindergarten.
Board Games
Children can play biblical board games and card games. For example, "Veggie Tales -- Jonah The Overboard Adventure Game," is a game in which players must follow the biblical Jonah on a journey to Nineveh. This game is for ages three and up. The "Great Adventure Kids Bible Card Game Set" comes with different card games for children as young as three to play. The card games, which include Go Fish, Memory and Spoons, are oriented around the Bible's time line and history.
Animal Crafts
One way you can interest children in Bible stories is to let them make crafts that relate to the animals of the Bible. For example, children can create their own Garden of Eden out of colored construction paper. They can cut out construction paper shapes or they can use markers to color the ground, the sky, a tree and a sun. Have children pick out animal crackers to glue onto their landscapes. Another idea is to make a lamb by tracing your child's hand, with thumb spread away from the fingers, on a piece of black construction paper. Cut out the hand shape and turn it so the fingers are facing downward. Have your child glue cotton balls only on the palm of the hand and not the fingers or thumb. Use a white crayon to draw the lamb's eyes and mouth on the thumb.
Bible Story Craft Books
You may find that children can understand a biblical story better if they make a craft that reflects the story. "Big Book of Bible Crafts" by Gospel Light has a section on crafts for young children in preschool or kindergarten. You can help children create crafts that are based on both the Old and New Testament stories. Another book, "Bible Story Crafts for Little Hands," has 30 biblical stories along with crafts children can make to understand each story.
