Astrology Games for Kids

Astrology is the study of the position of stars and planets and their supposed effect on events and human lives. Creating games that teach children about astrology will also help children learn about space, constellations and astronomy. Use astrology games as a tool to broaden children's interest in science and outer space.
  1. Word Search

    • Create word searches with the zodiac signs hidden inside. The difficulty of word searches can be altered based on age and astrology knowledge. Smaller word searches with a word bank are appropriate for younger children and beginner learners. Larger word searches can be used for older children. Take it a step further by creating a fill-in-the-blank or question-and-answer word bank. For instance, your clue may be, "This zodiac sign is represented by a bull." Children will know to search for Taurus.

    Pin the Zodiac

    • Hang zodiac symbols on the wall. Write down the names of the signs on pieces of paper and hand them out to the children. Split the children into teams if you have a large group, then hand out a piece of paper with the name of a zodiac sign to each team. Time each team on how long it takes to match the name to the zodiac symbol. The quickest team wins.

    Arts and Crafts

    • Show-and-tell will help each child express something about herself.

After teaching children about their astrological sign have them draw, paint or design their sign or a depiction of their sign. Use artwork for show-and-tell and have the children show their work and teach the class about their sign and whether they feel that the characteristics of the sign match their personalities.

    Zodiac Jeopardy

    • Create a Jeopardy board in which all the categories relate to the zodiac. Sample categories include zodiac symbols, dates and definitions. Devise five questions or clues for each category. Have the children call out a category. For instance, "Dates for $200." Keep score throughout the game and have a final Jeopardy question at the end in which the children can wager some or all of their points. The highest-scoring child or team wins.
