Items in Nature
If you are having a scavenger hunt outside, it makes sense to choose items that can be found in nature. Types of trees, flowers, species of birds and bugs are some examples of things you can look for in a scavenger hunt. Many of these item's can't be put into a bag. Providing a digital camera or allowing teams to use a cellphone camera can suffice as proof for finding the objects.
Kid Parties
Kid scavenger hunts can involve any number of objects. Some good ideas include a whoopie cushion, plastic spider rings, stuffed animals, cars, doll combs, marbles and candy. You can choose to just give each kid a list of things to find, or you can give clues about the types of things they are to find. Younger kids tend to do better with a list. Older kids have more fun if they have to follow clues to find an object. Give each child a baggie to hold the scavenger hunt objects.
Around the House
If you're in a hurry to come up with a party game, try an inside scavenger hunt. This game is suitable for kids or adults. Come up with a list of things for players to find. Create a mixture of things for your scavenger hunt list. Include things out in the open as well as hidden objects to make the game entertaining. Pictures, mirrors, cotton balls, rubber bands, pens, pencils, keys, remote controls and magnets make convenient scavenger-hunt items.
At Public Locations
Add extra excitement to an outing by playing a scavenger-hunt game. The list of things to find will depend on the place you visit. For example, at a water park, your list will include things like: swim floaties, green swimming trunks, water goggles and suntan lotion. At a zoo, your list might include animals at the zoo. Hunter may be unable to gather some items. For these items, request a picture of the object. You can break up into groups or do the scavenger hunt altogether.
