How to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle Coloring Books

While coloring books are fun for children of all ages, when your kids are done with one, you may not want to simply throw it away. Instead, be a little green and learn ways to recycle the coloring pages right from the coloring books. You can do this by yourself or ask your kids to help so you can teach them the importance of recycling.

Instructions

    • 1

Tear out any pages in the coloring books that have not been colored on. Reuse and recycle these pages by giving them to a local preschool, kindergarten, children's hospital, day-care center or local youth group.

    • 2

Tape together several sheets of finished color pages to create one large sheet. Use this large sheet as wrapping paper for your next holiday get-together or birthday party.

    • 3

Take your child's best few coloring pages to a local copying store. Have each page laminated and use them as place mats.

    • 4

Frame different coloring pages and proudly display them around your house. If the pages don't quite match your decor, simply hang them in the child's playroom or basement.

    • 5

Use the coloring pages as printer scrap paper if the pages are blank on one side.

    • 6

Place any unusable coloring books in your recycling bin to be recycled during curbside pickup. If you don't have curbside pickup, contact your local Department of Public Works for the nearest recycling center.
