How to Jump in the Air

Jumping into the air can be a useful defense mechanism in certain situations but can also be employed during fun games. The act of jumping involves a person propelling himself vertically against the force of gravity until he is airborne. Avoiding predators and playing basketball are good reasons for jumping into the air. Jumping, leaping, or hopping, can also cover a larger distance than a walking step.

      Crouch so that your legs are slightly bent. You will not be able to jump effectively if your legs are straight.

      Straighten your legs as fast as you can and push your feet into the ground. As your feet leave the ground, point your toes down. This will start the acceleration process.

      Allow your momentum to propel you against the force of gravity.
