Instructions
Go to a website that offers dot puzzles, such as Download Squad. When you upload an image and choose "key points," the Download Squad program will generate a connect-the-dot puzzle directly for you.
Find an image or draw the shape you would like the finished puzzle to take, if you choose to make your own dot puzzle. Don't worry about such details as eyes, teeth or flowers in the background. Focus on the main shapes.
Place another piece of paper over the finished product and use a light to illuminate the papers from underneath if you cannot trace it. Place dots at key points such as shoulders, bends in elbows and other angles that form the finished shape. Add a number to each dot as you go.
Close the line by placing the last dot. You may start a second line if you wish -- simply change to letters rather than numbers. Note that circles in the puzzle aren't possible, instead, add many points as you trace the form. The more points on the circle, the smoother the finished shape will be.
Copy the final dotted image and add details such as eyes and other elements that would be impossible with dots. Finish and copy the final image for someone to solve.
