Bible Jeopardy
Bible Jeopardy is obviously inspired by the television quiz show "Jeopardy." The difference with this game is that Bible Jeopardy tests campers on their knowledge of the Bible. Use a large bulletin board and 25 to 30 sheets of white construction paper. Use construction paper because it is thicker than regular notebook paper and you can write on both sides. On one side, write the question and then on the other write how many points it is worth. The more difficult questions are worth more points. Categorize questions in one of five categories. The categories are up to you. Post the questions on the bulletin board separated by category and the amount of points they're worth.
Bible Atlas
Bible Atlas is another game that is not only fun, but also tests campers on their knowledge of the bible. Bible Atlas is based on the game "Atlas." Bible Atlas is best when played with a group no bigger than 10 children. Appoint one counselor to act as a judge. Line up the children facing the counselor. Start the game by having one camper pick a letter. Every camper on the line must then name a bible character or location that starts with that letter of the alphabet. Any camper that cannot is out of the game. After you go through the line one time, pick a new letter and keep going until there is only one camper left.
Guess that Character
Guess that character will require the help of your camp counselor. Have each counselor research a specific bible character and then plan an act that will give the campers clues as to that character's identity. If you have a large group separate them into teams. To keep things orderly arrange a system where your counselor gives one clue and then give the teams an opportunity to guess the character. Continue the cycle until you have a winner.
Other Team Building Games
Christian day camps aren't all about Bible trivia. It's also a good time to allow young people to bond with their peers and build team spirit. Depending on the size and resources of the camp, you should have access to venues for team sports. Games like basketball or touch football are good to get the blood pumping and also build camaraderie amongst the campers. If you have fewer resources you might try something as simple as a four-legged race, which forces two people to work together in very close proximity.
