Outside
Take the active games outside and enjoy your surroundings at the same time. Outdoor games can be played with little or no equipment. Relays and station runs are popular with all ages. Egg or water balloon tosses are messy, but fun. Fill the bottom of a tub with Jello then have kids retrieve coins, pencils, small rubber balls, etc., using only their toes. Any high energy or funny game is a sure fire hit.
Indoor
If you choose to entertain youth indoors, there are a multitude of activities to keep the kids active and having fun. Start with some crazy icebreakers before moving on to real competitions. Always think about game boundaries, breakable items and safety issues before starting any game. Have everyone put their shoes in a large pile in the center of the room. Then on cue, everyone scrambles to find and put on their own shoes and get back to base.
Or pick a theme, like superheroes, movie stars or Disney characters. Put the name of one character on each piece of paper (like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, Ariel). Tape a name onto the back of each player without letting them see the name. Then everyone has to try to guess who they are by asking others questions about their character.
Explain game rules clearly, then just have fun.
