Activities for Infants in Englewood, New Jersey

Although located just 30 minutes from New York City, you don't have to travel too far to find activities for you and your baby in Englewood, New Jersey. Englewood, a shortened version for "English neighborhood," has various classes and programs made especially for infants. These activities are available for you and your child's enjoyment throughout the year.
  1. The Little Gym

    • The Little Gym in Englewood, New Jersey, has parent/child classes called "From Somersaults to Self-Esteem." These classes are for infants who are 4 months and for toddlers up to 3 years old. Together with an instructor, you and your baby work together on basic motor and social skills such as balance, body awareness, coordination and rhythm, and work to increase your child's physical strength, flexibility and coordination. This will be done through early socialization and cognitive exercises and gymnastics. Classes are divided into age groups. The Little Gym is open daily.

    Cutie Patooties

    • The 3,500-square-foot Cutie Patooties is a play space for newborns to children up to 6 years old. Cutie Patooties offers a playground for private play groups. It also operates different kinds of classes. Two music classes are open for all age groups. Socialization and development classes for 12- to 24-month-olds are offered. Starting at 9 months, infants can participate in language classes including Spanish and French. Yoga classes are available for those 0 to 12 months and for newborns to 12 months old. Cutie Patooties is open from Monday through Saturday.

    Englewood Public Library

    • Regularly scheduled programs are available for infants in the Englewood Public Library. Newborns and kids up to 2½ can attend "Play Time." This informal, hour-long drop-in program is offered twice a week. Your baby can enjoy free play with toys for 40 minutes followed by finger plays, puppets and familiar songs during a 20-minute circle time. Contact the library for more information on this program as schedules are subject to change. The Englewood Public Library is open daily.

    Flat Rock Brook

    • If you're not looking for structured activities, take your baby to the Flat Rock Brook Nature Center. Go for a walk with your baby in a stroller or on a sling in Flat Rock Brook's 3.6 miles of trails. Depending on the time of year, you may see wildlife such as bullfrogs, owls, deer and and migrating birds. You may want to take your baby to the center's playground, picnic area and gardens -- including two butterfly gardens and the "Children's Garden," which centers on a different theme each year. Flat Rock Brook Nature Center is open daily from dawn to dusk.
