Small Group Games
Reuse plastic soda bottles and a beach ball to play a rousing game of bowling. Use the bottles to set up an obstacle course. Give them a timer to see how long it will take them to get through it. Put on blindfolds and have the kids talk each other through the obstacles. Compare the times. Hide the bottles like eggs and have the kids find them. Offer a prize for whoever finishes first or finds the most bottles.
Indoor Games
Create a treasure hunt for your children. Write clues on pieces of paper and hide them around the house, making sure that each clue links to the next. Give the clue to your children and let them work their way through finding all of the clues. Assist them to make a treasure hunt for you. Create a digital treasure hunt by supplying your children with a digital camera and a list of items they need to take pictures of.
Outdoor Games and Activties
Arm your children with finger paints and some paint brushes and let them paint the glass patio door on the outside. Use the hose to spray the paint off the glass and your children once they are finished. Make a fairy village in your garden by painting rocks and planting flowers in a special area of your backyard. Mix corn starch and water together in a bucket and let the kids go wild with the gooey stuff outside.
Games to Play In The Car
Play the alphabet game by looking for words that start with each letter of the alphabet. Set some rules for the game by saying all letters must come from license plates or road signs. Tell a story using the alphabet where each person says a sentence that begins with the next letter of the alphabet, for example: "An apple fell down on the ground"; "Billy picked it up and began eating it"; "Climbing up the hill he got tired."
