Games for Boys & Girls at the Age of 10

Kids of all ages love games, but as they get older, the games change and become more challenging. There are a myriad of games to choose from, including many online games that are age specific. Whether they're at a party, the schoolyard or just playing indoors, ten-year-olds have plenty of games available for them.
  1. Party Games

    • No kids' party is complete without games. A fun and timeless game is "Musical Chairs." Line up chairs in two rows, back to back. The number of chairs has to be one less than the number of children playing the game. Turn the music on and have the children continuously walk around the chairs. When the music stops, everyone sits down in a chair. Whoever doesn't get a chair is out. Remove one chair and start the music. Play until there is only one chair and two children. The one to get the last chair wins the game.

Another party game is "Bop the Balloons." Each child is given a balloon and the object of the game is to keep as many balloons in the air as possible. The kids can bop any balloon, not just their own. The game can be played until all the balloons are on the floor.

    Outdoor Games

    • There are plenty of games to play outdoors. "Freeze Tag" is played by one person starting as the "tagger." The tagger tries to tag as many people as he can. If a player is tagged, he has to freeze. Players who are not tagged can "unfreeze" frozen players by touching them. The first to get tagged or "frozen" three times becomes the next tagger.

"Dodge Ball" is another game that can be played with ten-year-old boys and girls. Two mixed teams can be set up and the object of the game is to get the members of the opposite team out by hitting them with a rubber ball.

    Board Games

    • Board games are a good activity for a rainy day, and "Bingo!" is good for any day. There are small Bingo sets available that include the numbers-cage, Bingo cards and chips to place on the numbers on the Bingo cards. Any ten-year-old would be happy to yell out "Bingo!"

Classic board games like "Monopoly" and "Scrabble" are also good choices for this age group. Monopoly has been called the world's most popular board game and Scrabble helps with vocabulary.

    Video Games

    • Wii games from Nintendo are interactive video games that are very popular with kids of all ages. There are games that are specific for the various age groups. There are dance games, combat games, racing games and adventure games. Wii has close to 1,000 games available, with a wide variety for ten-year-old boys and girls to choose from including "Action Girlz Racing," "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?", "Barbie and the Three Musketeers," and "Super Mario Brothers."
