Board Games
Board games can keep kids entertained even when they are home and playing with family members. There are many educational board games in the market such as the labyrinth games from Ravensburger. The company has various labyrinth games for every age group namely Junior Labyrinth (5 years and up), Labyrinth (7 years and up) and Master Labyrinth (10 years and up). This game, around for 20 years, still continues to entertain and educate kids. Another game is Clue from Hasbro, which lets children play detective for a day. Considered a classic board game, it has spawned several versions and now includes Junior Clue for kids ages 5 and up. Other well-loved board games are Scrabble, Sorry and Monopoly.
Card Games
Cards are an inexpensive tool for games. Numerous card games require different skills. A simple card game appropriate for young children is House of Cards, in which they must build a house using the entire set of cards without bending them. Kids will be surprised at their own creativity. Memory is another card game that develops concentration and memory skills. Cards are spread face-down on the table, and kids take turn in turning over two cards. If they are not matching pairs, they turn them face-down again and the next player turns over two cards. The players must be observant and memorize which card is where so that they can find matching cards when it is their turn. The kid who turns up the most matching cards wins the game.
Christian Games
Many games for kids relate to the Christian faith and reinforces Christian values. Teams can play board games such as Outburst, Bible Edition by Cactus Game Design. A team must draw a topic from a pack of 252 topics and try to get 10 correct answers. Topics range from "Sons of Jacob," "Animals in the Bible" to "Names of Christ." The team must shout out the correct answers before the 60-second time period ends. There are also many group games such as the "Who Done It?" game which asks players short two-word questions such as "Who doubted?" in which the answer is Thomas and "Who baptized?" in which the answer is John the Baptist and so on.
Outdoor Games
Kids enjoy nothing more than running around with their friends outside on a nice sunny day. Tag is a game that has been enjoyed for years and involves simple rules and mechanics. One person is chosen to be "it." This person then runs after the kids, trying to touch one of them to tag him. After a person is tagged, he then becomes "it" and must tag another person. Other outdoor games that children can play are the classic Hide and Seek, Hopscotch and Red Light Green Light.
