Funny Icebreaker Game
This word game is sure to get children of all ages in a laughing mood. Seat everyone in a circle. Go around the circle, asking each child to name a household chore he hates doing, and why he hates it. You might start by saying something like "I hate raking leaves because it's messy and I get scratches on my legs" or "I hate watering the lawn because my clothes always end up wet." Once you've completed the circle, reveal the surprise: you will go around the circle again, but this time, everyone must say "I hate going to the bathroom because" and give the same reason as their household chore. The results can be funny.
Animal Soccer
This game is perfect for six- to eight-year olds. Each team must choose an animal with a discernible noise. Cows, pigs and chickens work really well. The game proceeds like regular soccer, but players must make their team's animal sound every time they touch the ball. Failure to do so gives the ball to the other team. In addition, players can only communicate with each other by making their team's animal sound.
Water Balloon Toss
Being doused in water when they want it can often get kids laughing. Break your group of kids into two teams of the same number. Line the teams up facing each other. Each person on one team must toss a water balloon to his opponent directly facing him. The second team then tosses the balloons back. After each turn, have each team take one step back. Eventually, the teams will be very far apart and the balloons will begin breaking.
Donut-Eating Contest
This game allows kids to get messy and have a great time doing it. Tie a string through the middle of small powdered donuts. Attach the strings to a clothesline. Make sure the donuts hang at a reasonable height for children to reach with their mouths. Begin the contest. Players must eat a donut without using their hands. The first finished wins. For a healthier alternative, try using rings of sliced pineapple instead of donuts.
