Easy Kids Games for Two Year Olds

When planning a get-together or birthday party for a group of 2-year-olds, plan a variety of easy games the toddlers will love. Games are an easy way to teach the toddlers social skills and help them build their fine motor skills. Award all participants with small prizes, such as toys, crayons and coloring books.
  1. Beanbag Toss Game

    • Decorate a cardboard box and cut several holes in the box. Purchase beanbags from your local craft store or make your own using socks, rubber bands and rice or beans. Mark a standing line about 2 or 3 feet from the cardboard box. Give the toddlers beanbags and tell them to try to throw the beanbags in the holes in the box. Award a small prize to the toddlers when they make a beanbag in the holes.

    Pop the Bubbles

    • Have the toddlers go outside and take a large bottle of bubble solution to blow bubbles. Blow several bubbles in the air and the tell toddlers to pop the bubbles using their fingers. Tell them to try to count how many bubbles they can pop. After blowing the bubbles, award a small prize to each child for participation.

    Don't Fall in the Water

    • Spread a large blue tarp on the ground and place cushions, paper plates and pieces of newspaper on the tarp. Have all the toddlers line up on one side of the tarp. Tell them to try to cross the "ocean" without falling in. They have to jump from one paper plate, newspaper or cushion, to the other without falling in the "water." Award a prize to each toddler who makes it across the "ocean" without falling in.

    Dance Freeze Game

    • Play music and have the toddlers dance around the room. When the music stops, the players must freeze. Any toddlers caught moving are out of the game. Keep playing until only one player remains. Award a small prize to each player for participation and a medium-size prize to the winner of the game.

    Pass the Prizes

    • Wrap enough small prizes so there is one for each child. Have the children sit in a circle and hand each child a prize. Play music and tell the children to pass the prizes around the circle. When the music stops, the children must stop passing the prizes. When the music plays again, tell the children to pass the gifts in the opposite direction. Next time the music stops, have each child open the gift they are holding. Each toddler can keep the prize he opens.
