All Aboard
"All Aboard" is a group game that strengthens problem solving skills and builds team communication within the group. The object of this game is to have children walk into and fit in a designated area without going over the boundaries. Once they accomplish this in one area, the instructor moves onto the next area, which is smaller in size, and thus requires more thinking skills and collaboration to get everyone in the smaller space. The children will learn patience and cooperation as they take direction and ideas from the group as a whole and try and come up with the best strategy to fit inside the designated area. This indoor building game is great for children who need some direction in working together.
Trust Fall
The object of this indoor building game is to learn to trust other people and allow children to rely on their classmates for support. In this game, one person stands while the others form a semi-circle around them. With their arms outstretched, the group encourages the child to fall backward, promising they will catch him. The child who is falling learns to trust while the the children catching learn to be responsible for others' safety and well-being. Even though this activity is for children it is highly recommended to be supervised by an adult.
Group Knot
Children form a circle and join hands with two members across from them. Once everyone has joined hands they then try and untangle themselves without letting go. This requires bending, flipping, climbing and moving just right. The task can be accomplished if they communicate and work together as a team.
Human Letters
This indoor building game allows children to work together forming different letters with their bodies. The supervising adult yells out a letter and the group needs to form that letter with their bodies as fast as they can. One child is the leader who helps the others form the letter and then places themselves where needed to complete the letter. This building game involves team-work and leadership skills. It gives children the opportunity to take control of a situation and lead their teammates into the right direction.
