Fun House Building Games for Kids

Kids may think it is the coolest thing to watch professional house builders construct homes brick-by-brick until a strong and sturdy dwelling appears before them. While kids looking to follow in carpenters' footsteps must wait until they are older, they can play fun games that let them build homes without performing physical labor.
  1. Design A House

    • Bob the Builder lets kids prove that they "can fix it" when playing "Design A House," accessible the Bob the Builder website and suitable for preschool- and kindergarten-age children. Kids use their computer and mouse to choose the house shape, roof shape, window type, door type and chimney type. With all parts of the house in place, kids then have the opportunity to paint not only the house and its parts, but the surrounding landscape and sky.

    Brick Builder

    • Kids build houses and cars in "Brick Builder," accessible at the AGame site. To build a house, kids choose from the set of available bricks, doors, roofs and windows. For the car, kids click the "Car" and "Wheels" categories and construct an automobile. Upon finishing their constructions, kids may print their work. Requiring meticulous attention to detail, the game may be best-suited for older kids.

    Create A House

    • Aside from building a house, kids may adjust the size and shape of their dwelling in "Create a House," found the website Gamesgames. To see models of houses to build, kids move their mouse over the tips at the top left of the screen. Kids click house parts to place them in the scene. To remove items, kids click "Delete" at the bottom left of the screen. Kids may change the background setting by clicking the cloud above the "Delete" button on the screen. To adjust height and width of items, kids click the adjustment buttons on the left side of the screen, or click items and drag their purple dots up, down, inward or outward. The game also features a "Spot the Difference" feature, which kids access by clicking the text next to the first spinning flower at the top center of the screen. With height-width comprehension and attention to detail required, the game may be best-suited for older children.

    Creative Builder

    • Kids use animated LEGO blocks to create a house and other items in "Creative Builder," accessible at LEGO Games. Game options include "Free Build," in which kids build whatever they like; "Plan Build," letting kids choose from seven models, including a home; and "Speed Build," which offers the same models, but times kids on how long it takes them to construct the model. The latter two levels may be best-suited for older kids. As an alternative, kids use actual LEGO or other building blocks to see who can build a house the fastest.

    Daisy's Construction Crew

    • Daisy Duck oversees a house construction site in "Daisy's Construction Crew," which is found at Disney Games and is suitable for preschool and kindergarten-age kids. After choosing a house shape, kids drag items to the picture and place them wherever they like. Clicking items changes their color, while pressing "Play" makes the animations move. If kids do not like their house, they click "Wreck" to have Mickey Mouse knock the house down with a wrecking ball.

    My House

    • Kids duplicate a house blueprint in "My House," located at Kaboose's Funschool site. Suitable for preschool- and kindergarten-age kids, this build-a-house game requires kids to click and drag items to the right side of the screen. Once kids click the spot where the item belongs, the item locks into place. Kids receive a "Nice Job" greeting upon finishing the house.
