Frosty the Snowman Games for Kids

Frosty the Snowman, with his jolly, happy soul, livens up any children's gathering. Keep a recording of Frosty's signature tune or another holiday song on hand, along with a stopwatch, to add excitement to these fast-paced games that feature good-natured competition and teamwork. When weather permits, top off the entertainment by letting kids build their own Frosty outdoors.
  1. Mix and Match

    • Create a mini mix-and-match Frosty game for children to take home.

Use white posterboard or craft paper to sketch out a large snowman shape with twigs for arms, a carrot nose and coal pieces for a mouth. Use several colors of construction paper to cut scarves and hats. Play the "Frosty the Snowman" song as children race one by one to dress the snowman with a hat and a scarf. Keep a chart of each combination, and challenge children to not repeat a combination used by another player.

    Snowball Stackers

    • Modify the snowball-stacker game by using a skewer to stack marshmallows.

Cover a rectangular table with a plastic tablecloth. Divide children into two teams, which stand at opposite ends of the table. Place a bowl full of large marshmallows at each end. Allow one member from each team to begin stacking marshmallows one on top of the other. The team with the highest stack after 10 seconds scores a point. Continue until all teammates get a turn. Finish the game with a bonus round in which teams compete to stack the highest tower of mini-marshmallows.

    Frosty's Flurry

    • Have children draw words or numbers from a top hat.

Use card stock to copy or print in large font, "Frosty the Snowman was a jolly, happy soul with a corncob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal." Cut out each word and place it in a top hat like Frosty's.

Have each child draw a slip of paper. Continue until all words are claimed. Have children work together to unscramble and put the phrase together. Time how long it takes. Repeat as desired so children can beat the clock.

    Cold Cubes

    • Keep ice handy so children can quickly play multiple rounds of Cold Cubes.

Children will enjoy this winter version of the hot-potato game. If weather permits, have them sit outside in a circle. If not, have children sit inside on a tile floor. Play the "Frosty the Snowman" song or another holiday tune. Give one child an ice cube to pass quickly to the next child. Continue passing the cube until the music stops. The child last left with the ice cube is out. Continue the game, replacing the ice cube as needed, until one winner remains.
