Kids Activities to Print

Whether the family is traveling to grandma's house or the Grand Canyon, kids don't have to bother parents incessantly with the age old question, "Are we there yet?" With travel games, parents can delight children and challenge their minds for those tedious road trips.
  1. Mom's Minivan

    • Let the kids play a game of car bingo--a variation of the original bingo game. There are four different cards with the same pictures scrambled in different order. The Mom's Minivan website has two sets of cards to choose from: roadside items or vehicles. Kids search as they travel and mark off what they find. The first child to get a row of items is the winner. Pennies make good markers, also cards can be printed on card-stock, then laminated. The kids can use dry erase markers and reuse cards over again. Make sure Javascript is installed on your printer. This website does have a copyright, meaning items can only be printed straight from the website.

    Sudoku

    • Sudoku is a modern puzzle craze. Whether your child is a beginner or expert in the game, this activity will keep them busy and engaged. Find beginner-to-expert Sudoku puzzles at the Disney Family Fun website. The best aspect about Sudoku printouts, is they are totally free. Just print the puzzles out based on your kid's skill level and make it to your destination in peace. Other puzzles related to Sudoku include kakuro and other logic puzzles, also available as free printouts.

    Word Searches and Scrambles

    • Word searches and scrambles can occupy spaces of time and allow kids to put on their thinking cap. Word searches and scrambles may be printed from any of the mentioned websites. A word search hides words within groups of letters. Kids find the individual words and circle them across, down, up and sometimes diagonal. Searches at a beginner level will more than likely not have words going diagonally. Word scrambles differ from word searches in that letters for an individual word are scrambled and kids must find what word makes up the scrambled letters. Both word searches and scrambles are available for beginner and advanced readers online or within select newspapers and magazines.

    Coloring Page

    • Printable coloring pages may be the way to go for the little ones. Coloring pages are easy and fun, especially if your child has a favorite character, activity or place. Printable coloring pages differ from coloring books because individual coloring pages don't have to focus on one theme. Find a variety of coloring pages of things your child likes. Print them out and make a customized coloring book for your little traveler. Family Fun on the Go and a host of other websites have printable coloring pages for free.
