Silly Story Maker
The card game Silly Story Maker takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Kids work together to create a story from cards that contain distinctive images. Players have to use that image to start or continue a story. After the turn runs out, all players are asked to recall the facts of the just-created story. The child remembering the most facts wins the game. Its recommended for ages 5 and up.
Apples to Apples Junior
Apples to Apples Junior is a card game that also helps children learn and improve their thinking skills. Each player draws a "Thing" card and a "Description" card. A player must use imagination to make a logical connection between the thing and the description. A referee rewards the player who gives the most creative answer. The player with the highest score wins. The connections can be plentiful since the game has more than 570 cards. It's recommended for ages 9 and up.
Blurt!
Blurt! is a vocabulary-driven game. Players "blurt out" answers to questions. The player with the correct answer gets to move a game piece forward on the playing board. If players blurt out the wrong answers, they must remain silent until someone else answers the question. The first player to move a game piece completely around the board wins. Blurt! requires three or more players and is for ages 10 and up. A junior version is available.
SKIP-BO Deluxe
The board game Skip-Bo Deluxe is designed for children 7 and older. Each player or team receives 30 face down playing cards from a dealer. These cards form the player's "Stock" pile. Players draw additional cards and discard cards from their "Stock" piles based on a set of game rules. The player or team that eliminates his or her "Stock" first wins the game.
UNO MOO!
In UNO MOO! kids 3 and up can learn about farming as they match animals and other figures. The match can be based on the figure's type or its color. A blue cow, for example, matches any other cow or any blue figure in the game. Matching figures go into the barn. The player who rounds up all her figures first and gets them in the barn wins.
