Penny Toss
Spread out a large white sheet on top of a flat surface, such as a coffee table or dining room table. Cut several colored dots from construction paper and write a point value on each dot. Mark a standing line about five feet away from the sheet. Tape higher point value dots farther away from the standing line on the sheet and lower point values closer to the standing line. Give each child 10 pennies to toss on the sheet. If a penny lands on a dot, the child earns that amount of points. Keep track of each child's points and the child who scores the most points wins the game.
Bouncing Ball Challenge
Scatter several cans, buckets and baskets in the middle of a hard floor. Mark a standing line using masking tape on the ground about 10 feet (more or less depending on ages of children) from the cans, buckets and baskets. The object of the game is for the children to stand at the line and try to bounce the balls off the ground into the variety of containers.
Memory
Children can make their own memory cards. Tell them to draw several items on index cards using markers or crayons. Be sure she creates two identical index cards for each item, which can include shapes, letters, numbers and colors. Scatter all the cards around the floor face down to play a game of memory.
Indoor Obstacle Course
Make an indoor obstacle course for your children using furniture, towels, chairs and string. Hang string between pieces of furniture for the children to go under and crawl over. Roll up towels and lay them in the floor to create balance beams. Place chairs around the play area and tell the children to weave around the chairs. Time the children going through the course and see who has the fastest time.
